| I married right out of high school and had six children in short order. It was necessary to stop doing art and take care of my children. I also took a full time job and worked my way up to recreation therapist at the hospital where I worked for 26 years. During those years I gradually took up my art again. I recently retired and am devoting all my time and effort to my first love, art. I am a realist in my art and my life. I paint what I see through my individual way of looking at a subject. My response to a face, a scene, or a sunset may be different than yours but sooner or later my painting will affect another person the way it did me. Light, color, and of course composition is what my paintings are all about. I believe that you are never done learning and you have to keep interested in life to be motivated to do your best. Belonging to art organizations and painting with others has been an important part of my continued striving to improve my work. I am for the most part, self-taught. I have taken numerous workshops and classes and always believe that you can't have too many books on art! To sum it up, my philosophy is to keep painting and keep learning. |
